The Stroke Unit

St Camillus Hospital is just off the Ennis Road approximately 1.5 km from Limerick City. This hospital is part of the HSE West Services for Older Persons. The Stroke Rehabilitation Unit is situated on the first floor of the Rehabilitation Centre at St Camillus Hospital in Limerick. The Unit opened in September 2000 and has 6 beds. The Stroke Unit accepts male and females who are 50 years of age and older and who are from Limerick city and county, Clare and Tipperary NR. The Therapy department and Day Hospital are on the ground floor.


The Stroke Unit Limerick is a Registered Charity affiliated to the rehabilitation centre. Its aims are to aid discharge into the community and enhance the environment within the Rehabilitation Centre. This charity has funded a Mobility & Leisure Garden outside the Rehabilitation Centre and has availed of funding for personal pendant alarms from Dept. of Community & Family Affairs. The Stroke Unit charity has also spearheaded the establishment of the Stroke Support Club Mid-West Region.
